My Journey through the NLGL Program

Big Question: How can teachers meet the needs of "at-risk" learners?

In today's classrooms, Teachers are faced with a huge challenge of meeting the needs for all their students.  There is no one language being spoken in our schools and no single culture that creates schools’ atmosphere.  The teacher has the responsibility of differentiating his/hers instruction for all their students.  Through my journey in the NLGL program, it inspired me to find the answer in finding strategies that helps meet the needs of "at-risk" learners.  The term "at-risk" in my question refers to those students who either face barriers of special education needs or comes from low socioeconomic home lives.  My journey allowed me to find research based strategies that will help these students overcome the barriers that inhibit them from performing up to the education standards.
